The department of Rheumatology of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre (RUNMC) aims to gain a better insight in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA), leading to the development of innovative therapies. Our laboratory is worldwide known for its leading position in research on the role of cytokines, animal models and cartilage destruction, and has contributed significantly (tracking record over 700 publications) to a better understanding of the inflammatory cascade and cartilage destruction in experimental models of arthritis and osteoarthritis.
Our research within the NanoDiaRA project primarily focuses on (1) identifying targets for the development of specific SPIONs and (2) in vivo IVIS imaging during RA and OA animal models.
